The Perk of Being Auditor - Story 1 - Welcome To The Jungle

So today,
Somehow I feel so exhausted and tired of non-stop tasks I had.
Actually this is not the first time I felt it.
Today wasn't the worst.
I just felt like I wanna share the story..
Of being auditor..

Maybe I have shared you before, the first time I known this profession was in High School.
When I'm on my way to EF..I'm walking with my senior (boyish woman), we're talking "what do u wanna do after graduate school? What major do u wanna take? And what do you wanna do after graduate college"
Well..I'm still on my first year..meanwhile she's on her 3rd year.
I said..I don't know. How bout you?

Then she told me that she wannnabe auditor.
Then I asked "what's that?"
Then she explained..auditor is a person who review financial statements..bla bla bla..
And she also said..if you becoming an auditor..you also can be accountant.. audit committe..commissioner..director..partner..everything!
Because in audit..you use every knowledge you have and it is true.
At that time..as an innocent little girl (I wish)..first think in my mind was "That's it! I think I wannabe auditor. That sounds cool!".
Since that time, I become curious for being auditor.
I graduate high school..and insist to continue study in accounting and must be in UI. Since my parent don't wanna another university except that yellow one.

Years passed by, my major makes me must have internship for graduation requirement.
Here I go, with my 3.5 GPA, I can ask my campus to choose which company that can hired me.
FYI, from my major, the internship program that being offered only in public accounting firm (KAP).
Luckily, they placed me in the place that later become my first love (halah).

It's not a big KAP, at that time, about 5 years ago, this firm only located in Dharmawangsa Square, but now, they already moved in very new and nice building in the 3rd business district in Jakarta, TB Simatupang.
I still remember the first day I start my internship program, I came at 7.30, and the door is still closing, the office boy (OB) has not arrived.
Then I wait, sitting outside the door (in the floor).
Not long after that the OB come and opened the door.
I walk inside..with a poker face..don't know what to do..where to sit..nobody has come except me and the OB.
Then he told me to sit anywhere I like.
Oke.. this is my favourite spot

(Di belakang tapi ga belakang banget..deket tangga).
*foto awal2 baru kerja. Antara pipi ama dagu masi bisa dibedain. Baru bisa dandan. Ahahahaha



Then a senior told us to read working paper (hardcopy one in bantex).
Then after lunch, I really remembered, someone told us (the trainee) to go upstair to meeting room. There will be introduction from the managers.
In this firm,there was 2 managers. One is the handsome one, one is the devil one.
The handsome one, let's we call him RPW.
The devil one, let's we call him Dajjal or AW. Ahahahaa.
Then they introduce theirself. First one is Mr. RPW.
Me,personally,have been hypnotized for a while for his handsomeness. Ahahaha.
After that, here we come the devil one.
I thought he is 35 or 40 something. But unfortunately, he's only 2 or 3 years older than me.
He told us alot. First impression "DEVIL".
But suddenly,he asked "is there anyone here know this company "piiiippp".
With my poker face I explained the company easily,because it's a non profit organization located in my campus.
Then he asked "who wants to audit it!"
No one raised their hand...except..me.
Ok...
(Un)fortunately...I must audited this client..alone..under..his direct supervision.

For your imagination:

Kalian tebak sendiri lah mana yang mana. Ahahaha 

Time goes by...one of unforgettable moment was..when I perform cash opname and I was doing it wrong for 3 times!

And I can't recalculate prepaid amortization..

And I don't understand how to vouch properly.

Till that boss told me to brought all the document to office.

I really remember,this client have tight schedule.

5 January must released. Because their period end June. The point is we only have 2 weeks fieldwork.
And that time was 20something december,near xmas holiday,and my client already told us they will have holiday till 2 january.
I was panicked! Then I packed all of their documents. In the big box. Contained 20 bantex folder. And I pick it up all alone! (Since I was the only one team member T_T).

Got back to office, I really remembered how he taught me.
In whiteboard,explaining me until 3 times. From nice tone, up until rude tone. He get frustated explain that to me.
After that prepaid amortization,to get me understand better,he really made 12 months schedule amortization in whiteboard and explain to me very carefully (with stress tone).
And vouching. He really open the bantex and show me.
This is the date..input the date..this is invoice number..input the invoice number..this is the amount..you should agree this amount to this listing..bla bla bla.
Ahahahahahahaha.
What a stressfull night.
I got home around 12PM if I'm not mistaken.
